FRENCH BLACK AND WHITE ENAMEL BELT BUCKLE, CIRCA 1900

A striking antique French belt or sash buckle dating from the late 19th to early 20th century.

The elongated gilt-metal frame is decorated with intricate black and white enamel work, combining a delicate diamond-patterned border with beautifully detailed fan-shaped and floral motifs. Its dramatic monochrome palette and elegant symmetry give the piece a wonderfully distinctive appearance, characteristic of the refined accessories worn during the Belle Époque period.

The central bar retains four individual prongs, originally designed to secure a wide fabric belt or decorative sash. Today, it could be worn as intended, incorporated into a bespoke fashion piece, displayed as part of an antique costume collection, or simply appreciated as a beautiful example of historic French craftsmanship.

A highly decorative and unusual survivor with a timeless black, white and gold colour palette.
