Georgian Cut Glass Spirit Decanter with Original-Style Mushroom Stopper – Early 19th Century

A beautiful and wonderfully decorative Georgian cut glass decanter, dating to the early 19th century, showcasing the exceptional craftsmanship and elegance of the Georgian period.

This classic decanter features a beautifully rounded, bulbous body, richly decorated with deep diamond cutting that catches and reflects the light magnificently. The broad shoulders rise into an elegant tapered neck, embellished with further intricate cutting and three distinctive raised, faceted collars, creating a particularly striking and architectural silhouette.

Completing the design is a substantial mushroom-shaped cut glass stopper, beautifully decorated with radiating star cutting, complementing the geometric patterns of the decanter itself.

The combination of the deeply cut diamond pattern, elegant proportions and elaborate neck decoration makes this a particularly attractive example of Georgian glassware.

During the Georgian period, finely cut glass decanters were an essential part of fashionable entertaining, used to serve wines and spirits at the dining table. Such pieces were often displayed on silver salvers or trays, reflecting the importance placed upon elegant hospitality and the art of entertaining.

Today, this beautiful decanter would make a wonderful addition to a collection of Georgian glassware or a striking centrepiece on a drinks trolley, sideboard or beautifully laid dining table.
