Large Edwardian Silver-Plated Gallery Serving Tray – c.1905

An impressive large Edwardian silver-plated serving tray, dating to the early 20th century, circa 1905.

Of elegant elongated oval form, the tray features a beautifully pierced gallery border with delicate repeating detail and integrated cut-out carrying handles to either end. The generous polished surface gives the piece wonderful presence while reflecting glassware and candlelight beautifully.

Large gallery trays of this type were fashionable during the Edwardian period and were designed for entertaining, particularly for presenting tea services, decanters and drinks. Comparable Edwardian examples dating around 1900–1910 frequently feature pierced galleries and integral handles.

Today, its generous proportions make it a fabulous champagne, cocktail or decanter tray, particularly striking styled on a large ottoman, dining table or sideboard with vintage crystal and silver.

Date: Edwardian, circa 1905
Material: Silver plate
Origin: England
Measurements: 61× 41cm
Condition: Good antique condition with surface marks, light scratching and age-related wear consistent with over 100 years of use. Please refer to the photographs as these form part of the description.

A wonderfully decorative yet entirely usable piece of Edwardian tableware — perfect for entertaining and a classic example of History in Your Home.
