Large Victorian Silver-Plated on Copper Punch Bowl – Lion’s Head Ring Handles – Made in England
A magnificent and generously proportioned English silver-plated punch bowl, featuring impressive lion’s head ring handles, an elegant shaped rim and a substantial raised pedestal base.
Designed in the Victorian style, this beautifully decorative piece has a wonderfully traditional country-house feel, reminiscent of the grand entertaining and hospitality of the 19th century.
The bowl features a deep, generously rounded body with a graceful undulating rim finished with delicate decorative edging. To either side are striking lion’s head mounts, each holding a large circular ring in its mouth, adding a wonderful sense of grandeur and classical elegance.
Standing proudly on a substantial circular pedestal foot, the bowl is stamped “Made in England – Silver on Copper” to the underside.
Originally designed for serving punch at large gatherings and celebrations, this impressive bowl lends itself beautifully to modern entertaining. Its generous proportions would make it an exceptional champagne cooler, with an estimated capacity for approximately four bottles of champagne when suitably arranged with ice.
