Pair of Victorian Glass Decanters

A handsome pair of Victorian glass spirit decanters, dating from the 19th century, with wonderfully simple architectural proportions.

Each decanter features a substantial square-form body with gently rounded shoulders, finished with an impressive faceted glass stopper. Faceted and cut stoppers were a characteristic feature of 19th-century decanter design, adding both sparkle and a sense of occasion to the serving of wines and spirits.

Their restrained design gives them a particularly timeless quality. Unlike heavily cut examples, the largely undecorated bodies allow the clarity of the glass and the bold geometric stoppers to take centre stage.

Originally intended for serving spirits such as whisky, brandy or port, today they make a beautiful addition to a drinks cabinet, home bar or dining room — and are especially desirable as a matching pair.

Heritage House Styling Note
A wonderfully elegant pair for a traditional drinks tray or contemporary bar. We love them displayed alongside antique silver plate and vintage glassware — pieces that remain as useful today as they were over a century ago.

Pair of superb quality Victorian Decanters reminiscent of Baccarat but not marked, in great vintage condition consistent with wear.
