Set of Six Victorian Etched Glass Champagne Coupes
A beautiful set of six Victorian champagne coupes, dating from the late 19th century, with wonderfully elegant shallow bowls, slender stems and circular feet.
Each coupe is decorated with a delicate etched geometric border, giving the glasses a subtle sparkle without detracting from their beautifully simple form. The wide, shallow coupe became particularly fashionable during the Victorian period and was an elegant way of serving champagne at the dinner table. Comparable English examples date to around 1880–1890.
The set has a wonderfully light and refined appearance and would look particularly beautiful arranged on a silver-plated drinks tray or alongside a vintage champagne bucket. They are also perfect for serving Champagne, Prosecco or classic cocktails.
