Vintage Bohemian-Style Cut Glass Decanter with Original Stopper – Circa 1950s
A beautifully proportioned vintage cut glass decanter, believed to date from the mid-20th century, circa 1950s, and displaying the distinctive craftsmanship and decorative cutting associated with traditional Bohemian glass.
This elegant decanter features a wonderfully rounded, bulbous body, richly decorated with geometric starburst cutting, intersecting diamond motifs and vertical facets that catch and reflect the light beautifully.
The elongated, gently flared neck rises to a beautifully shaped, deeply fluted stopper, creating an almost thistle-like silhouette. The original matching stopper is particularly attractive and adds to the overall elegance of the piece.
Standing on a circular cut glass foot, the decanter has a pleasing weight and a lovely sense of balance.
Although reminiscent of traditional Bohemian crystal, the decanter is unmarked, and its precise origin and manufacturer remain unidentified.
A versatile piece for serving port, sherry, or other spirits, equally at home on a traditional drinks tray, sideboard or contemporary drinks trolley.
A wonderful addition to any collection of vintage glassware and a lovely example of the enduring appeal of decorative cut glass.
